Sound pollution is one of the most pervasive and subtle forms of contamination we experience in the modern world.
This piece examines the omnipresent penetration of the modern mechancal din. The vanity of our mechanized culture exercises a tyranny of sound pollution which inhabits even the sites we designate for retreat. It is the very omnipresence of the din, to a point where it is “tuned out”, that suggests we collectively experience it as a culturally subconscious Aural Colonization.
